Designer Dresses in the Spotlight: Mia Mia

Younger sister to the enormously respected Alan Hannah collections, Mia Mia, now in it's third year, dazzled on the catwalks in London this season, with a simple, pared down look, complemented with intricate shoulder detailing and a clever use of ruffles and ruching.

Although distinct from the Alan Hannah range, you can still tell these are Marguerite Hannah designs, with beautiful cuts and romantic shapes to flatter the female form.

Marguerite told us:

"My whole intention [with the Mia Mia collection] was to give it its own identity, its own direction and I feel that I’ve definitely done that. With Alan Hannah we create very clean, beautifully cut dresses that are classic in every way. With the Mia Mia collection it enables me to be a bit more fluid and a bit more open. We do a lot of slim, soft chiffons which are slightly more bohemian and more fashion led. We've got very classic lines here as well, but we've also got more modern dresses. We’ve also worked with a lot of accessorizing with shrugs and belts so that you can transform the dress and make it more individual.

Obviously you have to have elements that are traditional but primarily the look here is softer, and younger and appeals to a different kind of bride. It's very sexy, but very soft at the same time - really gorgeous!"

There is definitely a fashion forward element to the collection, which features gowns with pockets, as well as sleek, straight columns and shorter styles. Lace also gets a modern twist with low backs and hints of cream and yellow.

Our view is that Mia Mia is a fantastic option for brides looking for a high end, quality cut, with a soft, feminine feel.
