Royal Wedding Announced

After years of Speculation, The Royal Wedding is finally announced!

Congratulations to Prince William and Kate Middleton on the announcement of the engagement, and what fantastic news to cheer the nation on a cold November day!

William and Kate looked radiant as they told their news of an imminent Royal Wedding, which will take place in the spring or summer of next year. They nervously unveiled to the nation the iconic engagement ring that had belonged to William’s mother, Diana Princess of Wales.  It had been lovingly given to Kate by William as a way of keeping his beloved mother near to them.

The announcement brings to an end years of speculation of ‘will they, won’t they,’ but now comes the biggest speculation of all - what will The Royal Wedding Dress be like and who will design it?

Kate already has a favourite designer in Daniella Issa Helayel, but I predict that she will fly the flag for Britain and choose a British designer to design ‘The’ Royal Wedding Dress

So who is in the running?

There are many talented British bridal wear designers who could be in the line-up including I suspect Jasper Conran, Amanda Wakeley, and Suzanne Neville. She could of course opt for society favourites Sassi Holford who famously designed Autumn Kelly’s wedding dress or Stewart Parvin, the Royal Couturier.

Recently when I interviewed Suzanne Neville, she spoke of every designers dream to design ‘THE’ dress and had named one of her collections ‘The Royal Collection.’ Many years ago, Suzanne began her illustrious career with help and support from The Prince’s Trust.

On hearing the announcement of the forthcoming royal wedding Suzanne commented:

"There will be a lot of speculation as to what the chosen designer will make for Kate, but the most important thing will be to hear what Kate wants - the dress needs to reflect Kate's personal style and personality. If we were selected to create the gown, I would sit down with Kate, as I do with many of our clients, to find out exactly what she imagines her dream wedding gown to be and together we would create something completely incredible for her day. Whilst the gown would have the handwriting of our shaping and be perfectly crafted to show off Kate's figure, the gown would need to be a complete, one off, something incredibly special and unique. Of course, the very best fabrics, hand beading and detailing would be used to finish it. It is incredibly important to make the gown fresh and modern but, more over, something timeless - the images will be referred back to for a long time to come."

One thing is certain, Kate certainly has her own style and is set to become one of the biggest style icons of the century.  Personally I think she will follow in the footsteps of Diana and make a unique statement all of her own and choose a lesser-known designer to launch into the international spotlight like Diana did with the Emanuel’s.

What would I choose if I were Kate?  With her stunning figure it would have to a be a classic, elegant wedding gown like Suzanne Neville’s ‘Maiden’ from ‘The Royal Collection.’ As she marries her very own Prince Charming, Kate’s choice of shoe would undoubtedly have to be the Cinderella slipper from Freya Rose and Magpie Vintage!
