The big proposal, how did he do it?

Valentine’s day is one of the busiest days in the calander for proposals and no wonder, as it is certainly one of the most romantic days of the year!

For many years I planned weddings for Brides who’s Grooms-to-be ‘popped the question’ quite romantically on that most special of days. One bride was whisked away to a fairytale castle for a cosy carriage ride and proposed to during dinner whilst being serenaded by a romantic violinist.  Another was proposed to on a snow-capped mountain in a glamourous ski resort and one lucky bride was flown to Paris for the day and proposed to following an intimate cruise on the River Seine, over dinner in one of Paris’s finest restaurants.

Proposals take a lot of thought and guys really do have all of the pressure, not just of how to propose but obviously that nagging fear of possibly being rejected.

Top marks recently went to Terry who proposed to his now wife Anna who had their beautiful wedding featured recently on The Wedding Vine.  Not only did Terry meticulously plan a romantic proposal (he proposed to Anna in a helicopter and touched down for a romantic celebratory lunch at her favourite venue The Grove) but he was so sure that she would say YES, and had already secretly booked the venue – yes you guessed right, it was the Grove where they were to celebrate their engagement on that very day over lunch!

Not all proposals are as on a grand a scale as these, but are all none-the-less, beautiful and initimate and held in our memories for eternity.  Whether you have been engaged for some time or have just been proposed to Congratulations!

We would love to hear your proposal stories so please share your intimate, funny, unusual or romantic stories by leaving a comment below.

We'll be giving away a bottle of champagne to the couple with the best proposal story.

I am married now- but my hubby proposed to me on New Years eve/day 2007/08 at 5 past midnight just after Auld Lang Syne in front of a massive room full of people- luckily loads of people were there to take pictures and I have lots of the moment he asked it was all a big blur at the time!!(they all knew it was going to happen)
The only problem is that is was a fancy dress/salsa evening and we had dressed up as tradition spanish flamenco style dancers.....oh the shame! If I had known I wouldnt have worn that.....but I did also win best costume!! Ha haa!!!

I don't know if my proposal could really be a proposal. my husband who was then my fiance just slipped the engagement ring without even asking me if I wanted to marry. A year after he slipped the ring onto my finger, we got wed.
