Boho Chic Wedding at Thorne Bay - Chelsea and Chris Part 2

The formal part of our wedding took place in Somerset February 2010, so coming home to the sun and sand was really relaxing. Our Blessing at home in Takapuna, New Zealand, was again all about intimacy and family and with that in mind we invited a handful of friends to join us at my mothers home on the beach.

Having grown up on this beach, it was of special importance that our blessing was held on it, beside a rock in the shape of a heart. We woke to a spectacular morning and with the sun beating down, our guests arrived. Champagne was placed in their hands, shoes were traded for flip-flops and they headed through from my mothers beach house on to beach.

The flower girls were lollypop girls instead, as I felt that giving them something to relate to was more in keeping with the sensitivity and thought I had given to each detail of the wedding.

The crowd gathered on the beach near the rock and the lollypop girls, Dad and I walked down our garden steps and onto the beach in the sunshine. With the sea at mid-tide there was plenty of room for everyone to stand whilst the waves gently rolled in.

The Blessing was moving as we renewed our vows and enjoyed being there amongst family. Rice was thrown, sand was wedged in our toes and the water lapped while the photos were taken on the seashore.

We entered back into my mother’s garden up through the beach house into the open plan living dining area beside the pool where we were served from a buffet of salads, meats and fresh veggies.  The wine was Italian and blush and we ate whilst casually chatting.

Our blessing cake was a series of tarts, lemon and fruit, which were bite sized for ease. Mini magnums were also served.

My grandfather’s vintage car rolled down the driveway and we were swept away on our honeymoon...from vintage car to our family yacht, we sailed off into the sunset - it was a heart felt day surrounded by family present and past.

Absolutely stunning; the photos, the lollipop girls, the beach and of course the bride and groom.
