Elisa and David - A Canadian Wedding

When David and I began planning our wedding, we both wanted to throw a great party, that was both chic and elegant.

On August 8, 2009, David and I were married at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, surrounded by family and close friends. Our wedding day was showered with oodles of luck! Sarnia, Ontario, Canada recorded record rainfall on August 8th, however, it provided for a spiritual and serene atmosphere as we began our journey as husband and wife. The highlight of the ceremony was watching my husband’s face as I walked down the aisle. I was teasing him during the time leading up to the wedding that he was going to cry when he saw me. Sure enough, he did! There wasn’t a dry eye in the church.

Another important detail for David and I was photography. Brett Harkness from Brett Harkness Photography did an amazing job capturing our special day despite the torrential downpours! From beginning to end, our pictures are breathtaking thanks to Brett’s creative direction and artistic vision.

Yellow and silver were selected as the colour palette for our big day, accented with lots of sparkle and bling!

Upon arrival to the reception venue, guests picked up their table cards from a sea of jewels. During the cocktail reception hour, guests were treated to handmade hors d’oeuvres and chilled liquors, whilst being serenaded by the music of Frank Sinatra from our jazz quartet. As a gesture of appreciation, guests were given a merino-inspired blown glass bottle stopper. There were no two bottle stoppers alike because of the blown glass process.

After our grand entrance into the hall as Mr. and Mrs. David Bararuk, we danced our first dance to Memories of Us by Keith Urban. He is one of our favourite musicians.

Guests enjoyed their fine-dining experience in candlelight, surrounded by luxurious linens of taffeta and silk. The most striking part of the table settings were the centerpieces filled with yellow roses and ivory hydrangeas, and a floating orchid inside the vase. The centerpieces were wrapped in a strand of crystals.

For dessert, our wedding cake was served. It was a lemon flavored sponge cake moistened with an Italian liquor called Limoncello. The filling was lemon flavoured as well. For a late night snack, guests were invited to induldge into an array of fresh fruit, various cheeses, fresh breads, gelato, and more desserts!

Beneath an enchanting canopy of tulle, veiling and hanging crystal strands, guests danced the night away. Our DJ did a fabulous job entertaining our guests. He had everyone on the dance floor all night long!!

All in all, it was a fabulous party!

Elisa's dress is Gemma by Sophia Tolli.  Sophia used to be the head designer for Maggie Sottero and is now working on her own.  Elisa would "...highly recommend Sophia's wedding dresses to any bride!"

Elisa's shoes were from Dune in the UK (my lovely sis-in-law brought them for me!). They have the Louboutin-style wedding shoes without the Louboutin price! Elisa would "...highly recommend Dune for wedding shoes as well!"
