A Wedding Full of Love and Laughter by Moments Captured

Following a romantic, candle-lit proposal, Lysette and Jack chose premier photographers Claudine and Tash from Moments Captured Photography to record their special day. Here, Lysette tells us all about Jack's proposal and the big day itself...

The Proposal

"I had just finished a 10 hour day teaching dance to children of all ages and was completely exhausted. I was really excited about just coming home and relaxing with my man, who had promised to have dinner ready for when I returned home and doing not much else on a Saturday night! As I pulled into our drive the lady living above us came rushing towards me begging me for help. Her 3 year old son had locked her out of her apartment and she needed me to drive to her parents and pick up a key! I had no idea where her parents lived or how long this would take! I knocked on my apartment door and found Jack peering around the door. When I explained to him what had happened he rolled his eyes, found me the sat nav and told me to be as quick as possible. Little did I know!

When I finally returned about 20 minutes later he opened the door to our apartment and I was met with a corridor of lit candles and rose petals leading all the way through the apartment. It was beautiful! Set on the candlelit dining table was an amazing variety of Spanish Tapas which is our favourite food, as we originally met in Spain.

After a gorgeous meal of Tapas and Champagne and as Bruno Mars “Marry you” came onto the cd player Jack got down on one knee and presented me with “a little green box”, a beautiful perfect Tiffany Engagement ring - a gesture that I had dreamt about since I was a little girl but never imagined would happen! He had been saving for months and had chosen to do it in our own home with a simple yet amazing gesture knowing that anything too big, or even typical may have been obvious to me! And he was certainly right!!"

The Wedding Gown and Accessories

"My wedding dress was from a local bridal shop and really was the complete opposite to the dress I had imagined I would wear. After trying on many slinky, stylish, elegant wedding dresses I asked – just for fun – to try some “bigger” dresses on. As soon as I tried mine on I knew I loved it. Small dresses were out and my more traditional, white, full gown was the one! I had it made to sparkle by adding some beading to the ruffled skirt - just enough to catch the light when I moved around.

My Wedding Shoes where a fairly cheap pair that I had found in a small wedding shop in Brighton, but with the help of a neighbour I added my own sparkle with crystals on the heels and the back of the shoes. They were my own one of a kind wedding shoes that sparkled, but cost very little compared to the designer pairs that I had originally had my eyes on!

My gorgeous floor length, beaded veil was leant to be by a friend and also was my 'something borrowed'."

The Ceremony

"The Wedding was held at our local, beautiful, 14th Century Church “All Saints” in Binfield Berkshire. Lit by candle light and with beautiful white flowers, the ceremony was not completely traditional - the new rector opted for a more modern sermon than some were used to quoting the Spice Girls “2 become 1” and often referring to our love of dance and golf as well! It was just brilliant and had people laughing and smiling throughout. I had asked some of my students to sing while we signed the register which was such a gorgeous touch and we left the church to them singing their own version of Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes’ 'Love Lifts us up'."

The Reception Venue

"The wedding reception was held at the Royal Berkshire Hotel in Ascot, Sunninghill. The venue is a beautiful red brick Queen Anne Mansion with amazing grounds that we were really able to appreciate on such a wonderfully sunny autumn day."

The Styling and Finishing Touches

"I had really struggled with colour schemes and nothing seemed to sit just right. I had decided very early on on a deep pink for the bridesmaids but really needed to find a contrasting colour that not only looked beautiful and not too over the top but that fitted our personalities and our romantic, elegant theme! In the end a friend pointed out the sage green walls in a restaurant whilst having dinner and the green, pink, and white scheme was born!"

Memorable Moments and Words of Wisdom

"Jack’s step dad Pete had offered to read for us in the church but we had asked him to say a few of his own words as opposed to having two bible readings. As a brilliant musician he chose the song “Forever Young” by Bob Dylan to read while adding his own beautiful words and memories. It was such a personal, thoughtful moment in the ceremony.

We also had one of my mum’s neighbors and her friend play the flute and piano on the terrace while everyone enjoyed their champagne and the photos. It was so discrete but such a beautiful touch that really made the atmosphere and put a smile on everyone’s faces."

The Dream Team

We asked Lysette to tell us about the suppliers who helped to make their day so magical...

"Claudine and Tasha from Moments Captured Photography were just amazing and were just as much guests as everyone else! They were so much fun and really added the enjoyment of the day!

Our band – The Love Junkies – were just brilliant. Having trained in performing arts and with many guests also in the industry the band were so very important to us for continuing on the party in the evening. This band was recommended to me by a friend who used to work with them and promised that they would be good. They were phenomenal! Every single person was on their feet the entire evening. They read the crowd and the mood just perfectly.

Our Wedding Cake was made by Jack's step sister Amy who enjoyed baking and really wanted to do something for our special day! As a primary school teacher she had managed to juggle a full week's teaching with baking a 4 tiered wedding cake with each and every layer a different flavor. We had a traditional Fruit cake, a Lemon Drizzle layer, A chocolate heaven layer and a date and Ginger layer. The cake was amazing and every single guest commented on it, most taking a slice home to enjoy the next day!

Our flowers were by Emma at A&M; Florists. I feel in love with Emma as soon as I met her at a wedding fayre! She was so helpful and understood exactly what I was trying to achieve!

My hair and make-up were done by one of my best friends and my cousin (both were also my bridesmaids). I had decided really early on that I had wanted someone who really knew me and knew what I liked to help with these as I had heard so many horror stories about brides hating their make up on their wedding day and also as a way of reducing the cost of such an expensive day!!"
