Tania and Bert's Eco-friendly Wiltshire Wedding

Tania and Bert’s Stylish Eco Wedding in the Picturesque Wiltshire Countryside

When I first saw the stunning images from Tania and Bert’s wedding, my first thought was… WOW! If someone asked you to imagine what an Eco wedding would be like, I’m pretty sure that it wouldn’t be the same as Tania and Bert’s dream for their amazing wedding. Stunning, stylish, whimsical and elegant are in fact adjectives that can be used alongside ‘Eco’ and Tania and Bert’s beautiful wedding certainly proved that!

Not only did they create a beautiful Eco Wedding with bags of style and aplomb, but they also had the amazing idea to host their own ‘Wed-Fest’ - a mini music festival in the heart of the picturesque Wiltshire countryside!

Tania and Bert ‘s wedding was truly inspired – the talented duo realised their dream by using something that they were blessed with tons of… vision!

We wanted a relaxed, eco-friendly West Country wedding. For us, the most important thing was to make sure our guests had fun and truly felt part of the day. We also used the opportunity to realise our dream of hosting a mini music festival, a fun way of spending more time with our family and friends. With such ambitious plans conventional venues couldn’t offer the flexibility we wanted so we cheekily asked a friend’s friend if we could use their farm. To our amazement they said ‘yes’! It was perfect but from that point on we were on a steep learning curve, sourcing and organising absolutely everything; water, electricity, sound equipment, etc. But it was all worth it to be able to make our vows to one another in a sunny West Country field surrounded by smiling family and friends.

As designers we enjoyed thinking of ideas and making as much as we could ourselves; invitations, lego wedding favours, decorations. To keep environmental impact (and costs) low we bought second-hand items where possible, handmade decorations and used farm materials such as hay bale seating and straw confetti. The Scandinavian tipis we used were stunning, and we used potted flowers on the tables so that guests could take them home afterwards. We also sourced local foods, organic cider, carbon neutral beer and fair-trade tea and coffee.

One of our favorite ideas was to have a cake raffle instead of a traditional wedding cake. Our guests brought along some incredible baked creations to go into the draw to be cut. Amusingly, the winning cake was a savoury ham and cheese sponge mounted on beer cans, perhaps the most unique wedding cake ever!

With so much effort put into the day, we wanted to make sure it was all captured beautifully so our choice of photographer was important. We were instantly drawn to Allister Freeman's amazing eye for detail, relaxed style and ability to capture tiny details, expressions and atmosphere beautifully. Thanks to him we have a stunning and truly natural record of our wedding day.

The fun continued the following day with WEDFEST! We served our guests, many of whom had camped overnight, bacon butties before kicking off a day full of live music, fancy dress, stone carving, food, drink and dancing. It was fantastic, and we relished the opportunity to spend more time with everyone.

Our favorite memory of our wedding weekend is simply seeing everyone smiling. I would definitely say that if you can create the right atmosphere for your guests and make them feel part of your day then they will make sure that you have a great day too!

Congratulations to the fantastic newly weds Tania and Bert and enormous thanks to the very talented Allister Freeman for sharing these lovely images with us.
