Vanessa and Pat's Fun-Filled Seaside Wedding Part 1

Vanessa and Pat's Fun-filled Wedding by the Sea - Summer Fete Style.

The attention to detail in Vanessa and Pat's beautiful summer fete inspired wedding is truly amazing.  The floral styling is so lush and perfectly met Vanessa brief of ‘a complete riot of colour, fun, joy and happiness.  The brief for the styling set the tone for the rest of their fun filled wedding by the sea.  Photographed by David Burgess of Blink Photography and styled by Jane Thompson of Flower Design, the vibrancy of the day is brought to life in such a way that you can almost smell the sweet peas!

During our wedding reception a male friend dashed over to me and said ‘Only you could have had this in your head.’ It was just a throwaway comment but it meant a lot to me as I was determined to make our wedding a little bit different and a lot of fun.

Sourcing wedding invitations was the first big hurdle; trawling through stationary companies I realised that it was quite difficult to be original. Then I stumbled across the very talented Ewen Macaulay, a designer at oak creative. Ewen created our invitations based on an old theatre bill and included amazing personal illustrations that he drew from photographs I sent to him. They were fabulous and they set the scene for our wedding perfectly.

My dress was ‘Beautiful’ by Caroline Castigliano and I completely fell in love with it. One of my friends is planning a ‘wear your wedding dress’ dinner party and I can’t wait to wear it again! My gorgeous bridesmaids wore BCBG Max Azria, my matron’s of honour (my sisters) were allowed to choose their own outfits and my gorgeous nephew, Freddie and niece, Lily, completely stole my thunder by looking so adorable.

The wedding ceremony took place on 22nd May 2010 at St. Cuthbert’s Church in Lytham, and we were so lucky with the weather, I think it was the hottest day of the year so far; it was almost too hot! Following the emotion of the car journey alone with my Dad, to seeing Pat’s face as I walked down the aisle, I was almost completely overwhelmed when the London Community Gospel Choir (LCGC) sang ‘Oh Happy Day’ just after my arrival. Canon Andrew Clitherow delivered a fantastic and personal service and the LCGC belted out a number of tunes including ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’ as we signed the register.

The photography was hugely important to me and David Burges from Blink weddings was superb, he was friendly yet discreet and he captured the day perfectly.
