A Vibrant Wedding by Neale James Wedding Photographer

After 20 years together, Lucy and Nathan decided it was finally time to tie the knot and chose premier wedding photographer Neale James to capture their vibrant, colourful celebration at Wasing Park in Aldermaston.

Lucy told us,

“This is not the most traditional proposal but bear with me. Nathan and I have talked about getting married for many years and over Christmas (2010/11) we decided we should think about getting round to it in 2012 to celebrate our 20 years together. We have always had a good idea of what we wanted and Wasing Park was always on the wish list, even though neither of us had ever been there! To cut a long story short we went to Wasing in March 11 to have a look around after seeing an advert in the local paper for their open day and accidently booked our wedding for the following August. So there was no dramatic or romantic proposal, it was more a given. Nathan however did ask my dad for permission and always told me he would like to propose officially. As the wedding drew closer, I really didn’t think or even expect any grand gestures or surprise proposals, we were just getting on with the arrangements. Eight weeks before the wedding we had a joint Hen/Stag do, followed by a party with all our closest friends at our home. This is when Nathan chose to get down on one knee and ask me. There was not a dry eye in the house and the most romantic and dramatic way Nathan could have asked me as all the closest people to us witnessed it.

I have always had a strong vision on how I wanted our wedding to look; it was based on vibrant colours and the flowers played a massive part in this. The rest of the detail for the wedding breakfast and reception was simple as the barn location was already so beautiful. The favours were personalised rock, which also acted at place names for the tables. We used lighting in the barn to create the atmosphere and it was really affective.

My family provided two surprises on our wedding day which made our day even more personal and exciting, the first being two bright sheep at the altar, which was a request made in jest one day after watching the movie Nanny Mcfee and then a Flashmob after the speeches! I will never forget watching all our friends and family gradually stand up and join in the special dance. It was utterly magical and had taken my sisters months to organize."

The colour scheme is great in this wedding. It's given me some ideas for my own :)
