A Vintage Inspired Wedding by Moments Captured

We love weddings that really reflect the bride and groom's personality and Katie and Billy's wedding did exactly that. Beautifully captured by the wonderful Moments Captured Photography, one of our recommended Premier photographers, this lovely vintage themed wedding was planned with the help of Katie and Billy's family and friends.

Photographers Claudine & Tash told us, "Katie & Billy's wedding was very special from start to finish, they are the perfect couple and so clearly in love. The wedding had a real vintage feel with lots of little touches which added to the day. Katie's dress was stunning and Billy's retro suit with gold pocket watch fitted perfectly. As the reception was at Billy's parents home, it had a real personal feel to it and they were surrounded by many family and friends and a whole lot of love. It was a pleasure for us to shoot the day for them and one that we will never forget."

Bride Katie said:

Billy bought the engagement ring after we had been together for only 6 months. He then held onto the ring for another 6 months until he found the right moment. He actually popped the question in Venice and I had absolutely no idea that he was going to!

We went for a weekend break which was just amazing and stayed in the most beautiful hotel overlooking the Grand Canal. On our first full day in Venice we went sight seeing and decided to check out the incredible Doge's Palace. It was in the palace in a secluded little court yard that Billy asked me. I wish I could remember what he actually said to me as I know it was beautiful, however the excitement took over and all I remember was a mixture of laughing and crying – not an attractive look! The rest of the weekend was full of giggles and excitement. Very romantic!!

The theme for our wedding was 'Italian', as Venice was where we got engaged and we love the food! We then added our own personal style which was an eclectic mix of 1920’s / 70’s bohemian / country. We wanted it to be very personal and beautiful but not like a typical wedding.

As we had a marquee in Billy’s parents garden, the whole wedding was very personal. Billy’s sister Lucy made the favours for us and we designed and printed all of the stationery.

The seating plan was a tree which we hung the table numbers from, with heart crystals and lights and we had planters made to sit at the front of the marquee to make it look pretty.

Our good friend Tasya is in the quartet Escala so they performed at the church for us. Billy’s parents Gardener Andrew made all of the flower displays for the church. The marquee was decorated by Shaftsberries Flowers. I’ve worked with Shaftsberries many times before on events so knew how amazing they were, but I never imagined that they would make the marquee look as incredibly magical as it did! We used a lot of suppliers that we already new so it really helped to keep it just as we wanted.
My favourite part of the day was taking 5 minutes to just sit with my husband in the garden whilst all of the guests were seated for dinner – it was a complete moment of calm in an incredibly intense surreal day! There was one hiccup when our cake fell down before we got back to the marquee! It was actually quite funny and the caterers did an amazing job piecing it back together.

My advice to other brides would be that there is no need to be nervous… everyone is there for you so just enjoy it! That being said I never anticipated the emotions that hit me on the way to the church - an intense overwhelming mix of emotions which I don’t think even the calmest of brides can overcome. Just roll with it!
