A Wonderful Winter Wedding by Moments Captured

After a perfectly planned and very personal proposal, Tom and Rebecca-Marie chose Wedding Vine favourites Moments Captured Photography to capture their special day. Usually part of the photographic team, this time Moments Captured's very own Tash was bridesmaid to Rebecca-Marie and told us it was a very emotional day!

"I was one of the bridesmaids for Tom and Rebecca's wedding, instead of being behind the camera, which made a lovely change. It was so special and emotional watching two of my closest friends saying their vows to each other and looking so gorgeous and in love, there wasn't a dry eye in the house! The day was absolutely amazing from start to finish and full of smiles, love and emotion. It is definitely a day none of us will ever forget, especially the beautiful couple!"

Bride Rebecca-Marie told us...

"Tom surprised me with the most romantic proposal a girl could dream of at my favourite place - the farm where I keep my horse. Disguised as a simple yet romantic walk in the country, he had set-up a proposal to surpass all proposals. The Gazebo was up, the Laurent Perrier on Ice, our beautiful dog Pugsey was awaiting our arrival as ringbearer in his doggy tuxedo, the candles were lit, signs were strategically placed to lead to the romantic 'Hareem' at the top of the hill, the violinist was warmed up… the scene was set!

At 8.30pm on Wednesday 24th August 2011 Mr Thomas Southgate got down on one knee and proposed to little Miss Smart with the back drop of the sensational Downs in East Sussex. The ring had been hand delivered by the exquisite Pugsey Bear and the violinist played haunting and deeply romantic music. Dinner was served up at the local foodie restuarant and to top off the evening on arrival home I was surprised to find our house full of what seemed like a million tea lights and the petals of a thousand roses.

A surprise trip to the breath-taking west coast of Ireland topped of this most incredible engagement… how could I say no?!

My wedding dress was the Silaba gown by Pronovias, altered to create a bespoke design with corset back, added flare for a dramatic mermaid effect and extra crystals added to the body of the dress. My cathedral length veil was also by Pronovias and I wore a Jenny Packham Ostrich Feather Shrug and Jenny Packham headdress. My bridesmaids wore rich, navy, full length gowns with dramatic make-up for vintage glamour, they looked absolutely beautiful!

Our ceremony took place at the Holy Trinity in Pornings. The Holy Trinity is referred to in the Doomsday survey of 1807. For centuries this has been a place of worship for the people of Poynings and was the perfect place for us to celebrate our love.Mulled wine was served up at the barn in preparation for cold yet thirsty guests and an 18 man Welsh male voice choir provided the soundtrack to the wedding. A combination of traditional Welsh and English hymns set the scene for this patriotic day.

We held our reception at the fabulous and historic Pangdean Barn. We fell in love with the venue on first viewing. It was perfect for us and we hoped our guests enjoyed our special day at this very special place........

The Theme of the wedding was a ‘Vintage Handmade Christmas’. I handmade all the finishing touches myself including the table plans, wishing tree, autograph wall, gift drop, favours, name tags and lottery envelopes.

The combination of simple flowers and candle lit willow was intended to work alongside the charm of the barn and an abundance of fairy lights and candles created the warm glow.

Centre stage stood the 12ft Christmas Tree and around the room we had set up the wishing tree, an autograph wall, a photo table and a family themed wedding cake with bride, groom, dog and pony!

The entire day was like a dream! Everything was perfect, even the slip-ups added charm and authenticity to the day! Walking into the church and seeing all my friends, family and loved ones was the most magical moment of my life! Walking up the aisle and being united with my adorable husband is a moment in time I wish I could freeze forever!

My words of wisdom we be to take it all in and don’t stress about the little things! The day goes so quickly, it’s as if time is speeded up so you MUST take time out to enjoy. Oh and lastly, schedule at least 20 minutes per toilet break! Some of the funniest parts of the day were spent in the toilet with my best friends!"
