About Lewtranchard Manor

A Jacobean Manor tucked away in its own secret valley.

Hidden away in a wooded hollow just beneath the wild tors of Dartmoor, Lewtrenchard is a house virtually untouched by time. The original manor was mentioned in the Domesday Book, but today’s impressive Jacobean dwelling, set in its own shrub filled gardens and surrounded by peaceful parkland, dates from the early 1600’s.

A Lewtrenchard wedding is like no other. The ornate plasterwork of the ceilings, the stained glass windows, the profusion of ornament and carving all contribute to ensuring the day is one that will be remembered by everyone as very, very special.

Indeed, our wedding licence means you can get married and have the wedding reception all under one very ornate roof.

The elevated setting of the house provides splendid views over the magnificent gardens and peaceful parkland beyond. Guests always appreciate the parkland, especially a stroll down “Madam’s Walk”, an avenue of splendid Beech trees, as well as walks around the heavily wooded lake and along the banks of the River Lew.

Whether it’s a traditional or modern, relaxed or formal, large or small, winter or summer wedding, our dedicated wedding coordinators, Ann Barriball and Donna Saunders are on hand to guide you through the daunting prospect of planning your perfect day, from start to finish.

As the special day approaches, our wedding coordinators will be able to advise you on everything from the timings of your day through to the finishing touches such as your table decorations and seating plan.

Jason Hornbuckle, our Chef Patron, also provides a very personal service and the opportunity to tailor a bespoke wedding breakfast menu to your specific requirements

From a day wedding with an intimate ceremony on the Gallery followed by a Champagne reception on the lawn to exclusive hire of the Manor with a gastronomic feast in a marquee, Ann and Donna firmly believe that your wedding day should be unique, original and everything you wish it to be.
