A Japanese Influenced Wedding at Hengrave Hall Part 2

We recently brought you part 1 of Hanako and Roger's amazing wedding at Hengrave Hall.  Today we bring you part 2...

On our wedding day, following on from our Japanese inspired wedding ceremony and a celebratory champagne reception, we had a Marriage Blessing in St. John Lateran Church with 130 guests.

For the blessing, Hanako changed into a beautiful lace wedding dress by Pronovias, Jimmy Choo shoes, pearl earrings from Mikimoto and a pearl necklace which was a gift from her parents.  Roger also changed for the blessing and wore light grey tails with cream waistcoat, white shirt and pale pink tie. We exchanged wedding bands from Cartier.

We had the most special day, surrounded by our families and closest friends.  It had a international flavor with guests coming from around the world including; Japan, Hong Kong, America, Dubai, Spain, Italy, France, Ireland, and all over the UK. We wouldn’t have changed a thing, though it would have been great to have the sun shine!

Our colour scheme was subtle but favoured pale pink and lime green.  This was echoed in the flowers, the cake and the bridesmaid dresses.  It represented the ‘Cherry Blossom’ tree in May (The National Flower of Japan.)

Our champagne reception was supposed to be held in the fine gardens, but the weather was so awful, we had the champagne reception in the hall of the main house, but it was still beautiful.  After greeting our guests in a receiving line, the guests were seated.  Our seating plan was unique, it consisted of a small tree with individual pictures of the guests hanging from it.  On the back of the guests’ picture was a short message thanking them for coming along with the table that they were to be seated at.

The wedding breakfast of Red Onion and Parmesan Tart, Pugh’s Piglet Loin of Pork and Strawberry Pavlova was preceded with a welcome speech from Roger’s Father and also an introductory speech form a family friend of Hanako’s. After dinner we had traditional speeches from Hanako’s father and the Groom and Best man. More guests arrived and were greeted with champagne just in time for our first dance Nat King Cole – Let there be love.

One of our best ideas was a flick photo book that was produced by Hanako’s Father with help from one of her bridesmaids.  The photo book consisted of photos from throughout our lives form when we were babies up until present time.  Every table had one of these photo books on it.  We also loved our ‘Table Plan Tree.’  On the tree, there was a picture of every guest, individually hanging from the tree by ribbons.  On the back of the photos was a message of ‘Thanks’ and the table number.  The pictures were designed for the guests to keep and also acted as a wedding favour.

Following our wonderful wedding, we honeymooned in Greece, spending  2 nights in Athens and 7 nights on the beautiful Greek Island of Mykonos - it was a perfect end to our fantastic wedding!
