Jane and Simon - Raspberry and Chocolate Wedding at Matfen Hall

We first became acquainted with Jane following our interview with the wonderfully talented Ian Stuart.  Jane had seen our article and replied by singing Ian’s praises, still overjoyed with her fabulous wedding dress, long after her big day!  We asked Jane to send a photo or two of her wearing her beautiful Ian Stuart dress and were completely bowled over with how beautiful she looked!  Jane was delighted to share her lovely wedding photos with us.  The stunning images were taken by the very talented photographer Alan Mason.

Jane used colour beautifully in her wedding and combined shades of pink and raspberry with chocolate - a stunning combination!

I always knew that I wanted to get married at Matfen Hall, even before we got engaged! Having spent many special occasions and evenings away there, I knew it was the right place for us and we secured a date two years in advance just to be sure!

My dress was a design by Ian Stuart and was the second that I tried on, I only ended up trying on a few more and went back to that one as I knew it immediately it was 'the one'. I had so many compliments on the day about the intricate design and detail on the dress and how perfect it was and it went perfectly with the Manolo Blahnik Heels I had picked up on my hen weekend in New York!

We wanted our day to be a big, bright, family orientated affair with everyone of our nearest and dearest in attendance so to have the marriage ceremony at St Marys Cathedral in Newcastle city centre was perfect in order to get all of our guests in!

I decided to have eight bridesmaids and one flower girl as I couldn't narrow it down to less than that but I think it worked out well and they all looked so beautiful in their handmade rough silk chocolate dresses.

The ceremony was perfect with highlights including a string quartet to play the bridesmaids and myself in to the church and a male and female opera singer performing Nessun Dorma and Ave Maria respectively during.

We celebrated our wedding breakfast in the great hall and terrace rooms at Matfen which were so beautifully decorated with hundreds of flowers by the wonderful Jean Hepple who simply made our wedding day what it was with her fantastic arrangements. I couldn't thank her enough for that.

After the wedding breakfast and some really wonderful and emotional speeches by the groom, the best man (who is also my brother) and my father all of our evening guests arrived for a night of casino games including blackjack and roulette and a live band in the wine cellar to which we danced the night away.

Most of our guests stayed the night in the gorgeous rooms at Matfen and  they all waved us off as we were whisked from the grounds by helicopter to the airport where we went on to enjoy our honeymoon at the Shamwari Game Reserve in South Africa and the Heritage Golf and Spa Resort in Mauritius.
